A Visit to Croften Pumping Station - Beam Engines & Canal water Pump house

Crofton Pumping Station is a pumping station near the village of Great Bedwyn in the English county of Wiltshire: it supplies the summit pound of the Kennet and Avon Canal with water.

The original steam-powered pumping station is preserved and still operates on selected weekends. It contains one of the oldest operational Cornish engines in the world, dating from 1812, which is claimed to be the "Oldest working beam engine in the world still in its original engine house and capable of actually doing the job for which it was installed.
