Having fun on You Tube

I decided to add another vid to my channel. I have had this channel for only a couple of weeks and I am trying out my new found hobby, film making.
I expect you will find some tips here too as I find my feet in the YouTube world.

A38 Dec 1st 2012

Off we go again. Another night at wild camping. Just an excuse to test out my new home made Led strip light conversion.

I had 3 strip lights all using about 20 watts each this was not good for battery life so I decided to try something else.
I didn't want to change the lights as I had fitted them in and the carpet on the walls was cut around them so I decided to modify the lights instead.
The back light I removed all the tubes completely and fitted 2 led strips in there place, this is now perfect and gives as much light as the original florescents did. I reused the existing switch so they looked unchanged, now they use less that half the power they did. Result..

The front lights I decided to leeve unmolested I kept the fluorescents as they did give a warmer feel to the van if I wanted them and just added 1 led strip in the middle with an extra switch to turn on and off.

Also,
The heating on the van works a treat its 17 in and 1deg outside. Nice and cosy!  The view was nice too Sun morning

Christchurch Dec 8 2012

Yum, tea and toast for breakfast.
Thought I would try the forest site in the forest of Dean, I read a few reviews but a few people didn't seem very happy with it so far I think it's been great.
When I arrived at 7 pm it was already dark but I found the receiption with no problems and was greeted by the staff on shift. The reception is very posh and its got a shop selling all you could need inc wine, lots of smiles from me  there!

I got my pitch with electric but as it was grass it was rather stodgy. Put up my awning then in for some tea.

Had the electric heater durring the night so was nice and cosy no point in being cold and misserable.
It went down to 1 outside with 12 inside, nice.

Off for a walk to coleford today its less than 2 miles walk and  it has lots of charity shops so lots of bargains to be had and butcher's and grocers for your fruit and veg.

We were contemplating buying a door mat for the camper so we went in this shop, the gentleman serving was a lovely chap Chating away and telling us all about the local town. We remarked on his boots and said how nice they looked, yes he replied and continued to tell us about them, he said they were really comfy and he had never had a pair like them, " they only cost me 19.99 too!"  He said,That's a bargain we replied we must get a pair "Did you get them local?" we asked ,  "oh yes" he replied. " continuing to tend to his shop, " were from?" we asked "oh..! In here... " he replied...

Some new camper graphics

I had come to notice the van still looked more like a van than a camper I I thought I would add some camper style graphics.

Stealth camping 25 Nov 2012

Well my first night at stealth camping,  I was not quite sure what to expect.
I decided to park in plain view so I opted for clevedon seafront as I had seen many people doing the same before.

My personal opinion on stealth is its probably best just kept for night stopovers as you feel you can't quite relax. I parked under a street light but found it went off at midnight so was in the dark anyway.

Writing this blog at 2am in the morning and there are still cars going up and down the road. I am very surprised as to how busy the roads are, there is lots of rain so this has probably kept people from walking to the pubs and using there cars instead.

It's 7am Sun morning, had quite a restless night but it was warm and dry ( opposite to out side the van! )had my cup of coffee and now its time for a walk and see what the morning looks like.
A nice walk along the sea front with the morning autumn blue sky, Nice start to the day.

Anyway glad I tried it, will most likely will be doing it again, as its free!

Off we go again. Devizes Nov 2012

New Page 1

Off to devizes this weekend. Went to the camping and caravaning club site nr seend. I would have liked a grass pitch but they only had hard standings Wich is impossible to get those tent pegs into, think your ment to have some sort of special pegs to het onto this stuff.
Walk to devizes this morning, what a great walk never seen so many locks in one place, think there are about 13 lock all in a row and it prob takes about 4 hours to do them all.
At devizes there is the canal centre and cafe but unfortunately on Sat at 9am it was shut so had to walk back home without a coffee and cake to fill me up for my return trip.<br />
There was also a couple of good pubs. Just outside the campsite and the other just turn wright along the canal a bit.

Nice time here will bring my mountain bike and cycle towards Reading way.

I'm missing a table.

I have come up with a table idea that utilizes the cupboard door so I don't have to carry extra stuff.

I only have to find storage for the leg.

Trip to Monmouth

Had night out in Monmouth in a Witherspoon's hotel room called the kings head, not bad place and the room was discounted to, that was even better :-)
I did find a nice campsite for us to return to next time with the van.

Camper conversion images

Here are a few images of what I did and how it looks now. The van is fully removable and takes approx 15 minutes to convert. The units pack up and fit onto a trolley to be stored in the garage.

I made all the units myself and the cost was probibly around 200 pounds.  I will post some images of the units individually next time they are removed

Hope they help someone whoay like to do the same.

End of season at Priddy.

Went for two nights up Priddy. Wow was it cold!  Had electric hook up so was nice and cosy with little electric radiator onboard.
